Blox Fruits Fishing Guide 2026
- Start with the Fisherman: your first chat gives you a Fishing Rod + Basic Bait ×10.
- Upgrade rods with the Angler: you need enough Fishing Level and Trust Quests to unlock better rods and bait.
- Fishing Level: max 100. Each successful catch gives about 25% of the EXP your character needs for one level, so roughly four catches equal one character level; double EXP doesn't apply.
- Farming Scrolls: mainly from Sunken Chests. Regular rods get 3 every 24 hours and the Treasure Rod 6; with the Blessing of an Angler's Treasure it's 6 / 9, respectively.
- Farming the Shark Anchor: craft a Monster Magnet first, then trigger the event in the Dangerous Seas.
🎣 How Do You Start Fishing?
The two most important NPCs in the fishing system are the Fisherman and the Angler. The Fisherman gets you “started fishing”, sells bait and buys your fish; the Angler handles “rod upgrades” and Trust Quests.
| NPC | Sea | Location / Function |
|---|---|---|
| Fisherman |

| Angler |

🕹️ How It Works in 3 Steps
- Cast: Stand by the sea, a river or a pond, equip your rod and click the water. Standing on the water you're fishing in cancels the cast.
- Bite: When a red exclamation mark appears, click again to start the reeling minigame.
- Reel in: Hold or tap to move the green bar right; let go and it drifts left. Keep it over the fish icon until the progress bar below fills up.
A fish's sale price depends mainly on weight, not rarity: under 2kg sells for $1,000, 2–3kg for $1,500, and over 3kg for $2,000 (Wiki). Your fish inventory holds up to 300 fish, and Soggy Boots up to 99. If you plan to make food or potions, keep the rarities you need first and sell the rest to the Fisherman. The Fisherman won't buy fish marked as favorites, or the heaviest fish of each species; since Update 30 you can mark favorites with the star next to “Equip” in your inventory (Fisherman, Fish Wiki). Soggy Boots give no fishing EXP and don't recharge energy for your rod's active skill.
Yes, but the chance is very low. When you hook a Physical Blox Fruit, the minigame gets noticeably harder. This is a different source from the random Physical fruit you get from a golden Sunken Chest.
If other players near you are also holding a Fishing Rod, each one gives about +2.5% fishing luck, stacking up to +15%.
🪝 Fishing Rod Unlocks & Recipes
Your rod affects how the Fishing Minigame feels, your success rate, and how efficiently you farm Sunken Chests. Usual upgrade order: Fishing Rod → Gold Rod → Shark Rod → Shell Rod → Treasure Rod.
| Rod | How to Unlock | Recipe / Notes |
|---|---|---|
Fishing Rod

Get it from your first chat with the Fisherman | A must-have to start. To upgrade your rod, see Trust Quests below. |

The five rods above are the permanent progression for regular players. The two event-limited rods and the Admin Rod below aren't counted in the permanent collection total. Before crafting your next rod, remember to equip your current highest-tier rod, or the recipe may not show up.
🎏 Event-Limited / Special Rods (Historical)
| Rod | Source | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Shell (Celestial) | Celestial Domain / Celestial Fisherman, 500 Celestial Tokens | Limited to the 2025 event; currently can't be obtained normally. |
| Shark (Corrupted) | Oni Realm / Oni Fisherman, 500 Oni Tokens | Limited to the 2025 event; currently can't be obtained normally. |
| Admin Rod | Admins only | Regular players can't get it. |
Shell Rod Wooden Plank count: the English Wiki Shell Rod page corrected the old ×12 to ×10 on 2026-10-03, so it now matches the fishing rod table and the Angler recipe table. Still check the in-game window before crafting.
🤝 Trust Quests
Most rod upgrades only open up for crafting after you build Trust with the Angler. If you've hit the requirement but can't see the recipe, check this page's FAQ first.
You need Fishing Level 20 to properly take Angler quests. The 15-minute cooldown starts the moment you accept a quest; finishing or canceling the quest doesn't skip it, and the cooldown is shared by the Anglers in all three seas, so switching seas won't let you take the next quest right away. Trust progress for the First, Second and Third Sea is counted separately, so maxing it out in the First Sea won't unlock Third Sea rods (Wiki).
“I have enough Trust but can't see the craft option” usually means you haven't equipped your current best rod, or your Fishing Level isn't high enough yet.
🧰 Sunken Chest
Sunken Chests are one of the most important fishing drops. They're mostly used to get Scrolls, which you then use to Enchant weapons or rods. Current daily limits: regular rods get 3 every 24 hours, and the Treasure Rod goes up to 6; the Blessing of an Angler's Treasure adds 3 more, bringing them to 6 / 9, respectively.
| Chest | Rewards |
|---|---|
| Silver Chest | First Sea $10,000; Second Sea $30,000; Third Sea $60,000. |
| Golden Chest | One random Physical Blox Fruit. |
| Diamond Chest | A random Scroll; community stats put it at about Common 65%, Rare 25%, Legendary 9%, Mythical 1%. These aren't official guaranteed rates. |
| Fragment Chest | In the First Sea, Fragments aren't available yet, so it gives $1,000 instead; Second Sea gives 1,000 Fragments; Third Sea gives 2,000 Fragments. |
2x Money doesn't increase Sunken Chest rewards. Fishing up 500 Sunken Chests in total earns you the Treasure Catcher title.
🍾 Note in a Bottle & Campfire Recipes
You have a chance to get a Note in a Bottle while fishing. Reading it permanently unlocks the Campfire crafting recipes; it's not a one-time event item.
| Recipe | Use |
|---|---|
| Fish Kebab | A basic food made from fish. |
| Lava Potion | Full immunity to lava damage for 2 minutes. |
| Aggro Elixir | Draws NPCs in a wide area to attack you for 2 minutes, handy for pulling mobs. |
| Loot Seeker | See nearby chests through walls for 2 minutes; doesn't include Fragment Chests. |
| Berserker's Elixir | +10% damage to enemies and bosses for 2 minutes. |
| Fortune Elixir | +20% money drops for 2 minutes. |
For full recipes and materials, see the Potions & Consumables Guide.
✨ Rod Enchants
Rods can be Enchanted just like weapons. The usual way is to get Scrolls from Sunken Chests first, then power up your rod in the Enchant system. On this site: How to Get Scrolls
Standard Rod Enchants
| Enchant | Effect |
|---|---|
| Baitless Catch | “Enchant level × 2%” chance to not use up bait. |
| Experience Sharing | Shares “Enchant level × 5%” of your fishing EXP with nearby players, and you still get that EXP yourself. |
| Fish Scanner | Raises your final fishing luck multiplier by “Enchant level × 2%”. |
| Resilient Fishing Rod | Increases rod durability by “Enchant level × 2%”. |
| Tasty Bait | “Enchant level × 2%” bonus chance for fish to bite faster. |
Active Skills & Passive Abilities
- Reel Boost: temporarily boosts your rod's power for 10 seconds.
- Calming Technique: slows the fish's movement by 50% for 10 seconds.
- Conserve Bait: lowers the chance of using up bait by 25% for 120 seconds.
- Fishing Rod Protector: prevents your line from snapping once per catch, instantly adding 30% progress and calming the fish.
Active skill energy fills up after you catch 3 fish; each successful catch refills a third, so you can keep charging even while a long-lasting skill is still running.
Rod Blessings & Curses
- Blessing of Bait Efficiency: 20% chance to not use up materials when crafting bait.
- Blessing of an Angler's Treasure: +3 to your daily Sunken Chest limit; regular rods 3→6, Treasure Rod 6→9.
- Curse of the Leviathan: after catching a Levi fish, sailing into Sea Danger Level 6 instantly spawns the Frozen Dimension. The Wiki's Fishing Rods page says you need to be in the same Sea Exploration Group, and its Enchantments page adds that the Spy must already be bribed (Wiki | Fishing Rods, Wiki | Enchantments).
- Curse of the Terrorshark: starts you off with +20% catch progress, but the fish panics faster.
- Curse of the Whale: final fish weight +15%, but it may use up 2 bait at once.
🧲 Monster Magnet
The Monster Magnet is mainly used to trigger events in the Dangerous Seas, and its most popular use is farming the Shark Anchor. It doesn't directly raise your fishing success rate, fishing luck or Sunken Chest limit; it's just often put on the same sea farming route as fishing.
The Monster Magnet is a consumable / event item, so getting your materials and teammates ready before crafting it saves time.
🧠 Tips
- Upgrade your rod first: it feels better right away and your success rate goes up.
- Group bonus: each nearby player holding a rod gives about +2.5% luck, up to +15%.
- Bait passive: boosts bait effects; every 10 bait you buy from the Angler gives 10 passive EXP.
- Casting passive: shortens the wait for a bite; it levels up gradually as you keep casting.
- Control passive: widens the control bar in the fishing minigame; you build it up by keeping the bait cursor on the fish.
- Chest limit: currently 3 every 24 hours, rising to 6 with the Blessing of an Angler's Treasure; once you hit the cap, switch to Trust Quests or the Fishdex.
❓ BF Fishing FAQ
Q1: What should I do first when fishing in BF?
First talk to the Fisherman to get a Fishing Rod and Basic Bait, then do Trust Quests for the Angler; after that, unlock better rods and bait as your Fishing Level rises.
Q2: I've done enough Trust Quests—why can't I see the new rod?
Usually you need to equip your current best rod and make sure your Fishing Level meets the requirement, then talk to the Angler again for the crafting options to refresh.
Q3: What are Sunken Chests mainly used for?
Sunken Chests are mostly used to get Scrolls, which you then use to Enchant weapons or fishing rods. Regular rods get 3 per day and the Treasure Rod 6 per day; the Blessing of an Angler's Treasure adds 3 more, so the caps become 6 / 9.
Q4: Is the Monster Magnet related to fishing?
It doesn't directly raise your fishing success rate, luck or chest count. The Monster Magnet is a key item for triggering Dangerous Seas events and farming the Shark Anchor; players just often put it on the same sea route as fishing, chests and Sea Events.
