Empyrean Kitsune Complete Guide

Empyrean Kitsune is a Mythical Beast-type mutation of Kitsune, released in Update 29.1 on 12/25/2025. It changes the normal attack, the Z skill and the transformed C skill — it's not just a recolor. This site always refers to it by its official name, Empyrean Kitsune.

Key takeaways:
  • It's not a regular skin. Empyrean Kitsune is a Mutation of Kitsune; Crimson Empyrean and Galaxy Empyrean are its actual cosmetic skins.
  • Mastery isn't shared. The mutation's Mastery has to be leveled from scratch; it doesn't inherit regular Kitsune's progress.
  • The free event method has ended. During the 2025 winter event, only Galaxy Empyrean could come from the Winter Fruit Box; now the main options are the mutation option for permanent Kitsune owners or getting special items through trading.
  • Check the shop status in-game. The English Wiki's Empyrean Kitsune page and the mutation list (checked 2026/10) both say that if you own permanent Kitsune, you can buy it for 2,000 Robux in Kitsune's mutation slot; what the skin page marks as "unavailable" is the Christmas shop sale and bundle. What your account owns affects the options, so go by what the game shows before buying.
  • Don't get scammed. Never trust anyone who says "I'll get you Empyrean Kitsune for free, just give me your login"; your Roblox account and two-step verification come first.

1. How to Get: Tell the Mutation, Skins and Event Status Apart

Update 29.1 added Empyrean Kitsune to mutations and the winter event. The event box and bundle have ended, but "the mutation option for permanent Kitsune owners" and "tradable special items" are separate ways to get it and shouldn't be lumped together.

MethodRequirement / PriceCurrent StatusWhat You Need to Know
Mutation option in the Permanent Fruit Shop Requires owning Permanent Kitsune; English sources list it at 2,000 Robux Check in-game Both the Empyrean Kitsune page and the mutation list say permanent Kitsune owners can buy it at any time (only the physical fruit was event-limited); what the skin page marks as unavailable is the Christmas holiday sale. Check the "Mutations" section on Kitsune's page yourself.
Fox Spirit Bundle 4,999 Robux; includes permanent Kitsune, the Empyrean Kitsune mutation and more Event ended A past channel from the 2025 Christmas event; it doesn't mean you can still buy it now.
Winter 2025 Fruit Box (2025 event) Galaxy Empyrean; different Wiki pages list 0.8% / 1% Event ended This was the only free roll option at the time; sources disagree on the odds, so this site doesn't treat either number as an official value.
Player trading Traded as a special item Still in circulation There's no official set price; double-check the item name, skin version and the final confirmation screen.
How do you switch after eating a physical mutation? According to the English mutation notes, eating a physical mutation for the first time gives you that mutation and equips it; it doesn't also give you the original Kitsune for free. Only if you get the original again later, or already own permanent Kitsune, can you switch between the original and the mutation from the Wardrobe or the Permanent Fruit Shop.
Safety reminder: Limited-time mutations like Empyrean Kitsune are a favorite scam hook. Never give strangers your Roblox password, verification codes, cookies or screen-sharing access.

2. How Is Empyrean Kitsune Different from Regular Kitsune?

Aspect Kitsune Empyrean Kitsune
Role A top-tier Beast fruit with high speed, high damage and strong chase potential. Kitsune's Mythical mutation. It keeps the core speed and transformation but reworks the timing of the normal attack, Z and the transformed C.
Mastery Levels Kitsune's own Mastery. Doesn't share regular Kitsune's Mastery; you have to unlock the 1/50/100/200/300 thresholds again.
Transformed look Regular Kitsune's full form leans toward blue foxfire. Empyrean Kitsune's full form; its colors change with the Crimson or Galaxy skin. English sources also note that Empyrean Kitsune's model has 9 tails, versus 5 for regular Kitsune.
M1 Normal Attack Kitsune's first three M1 hits grab and briefly control enemies. At 3 tails or when transformed, Empyrean Kitsune's first three hits become Dragon-like projectile slashes that push enemies forward; hit 4 becomes a wider mob pull but deals less damage.
Transformation buffs High mobility and fox-form skills. 20% damage reduction, shorter cooldowns, more speed, longer jumps and dashes; can run on water and carry one teammate.
Best for Players who want reliable leveling, map travel and PvP. Players who know how to manage the tail meter and want PvP or to collect limited-time content; beginners shouldn't sink all their resources into it just for the rarity.

3. Tail Meter & Transformation Passives

Empyrean Kitsune's strength isn't just about single-hit damage; keeping your tails up and choosing when to transform is the core of both leveling and PvP.

🦊 How do tails build up?

The tail meter fills over time and as you deal damage; missed skills drain it, and missed normal attacks drain it too, but less. At a full 3 tails the meter turns rainbow-colored, and only then can you use V to transform.

💨 2 tails: Speed stage

Movement speed rises by about 100% (2x), dashes get stronger, your character switches to running on all fours, and Air Jump and dash use unique animations.

🔥 3 tails: Ranged slashes & burn

The first three normal attack hits extend into flaming slashes that fly forward, and hit 4 becomes a mob pull; normal attacks and F can apply a short burn on hit. This passive itself isn't a permanent damage boost.

✨ Full Transformation

Grants 20% damage reduction, shorter skill cooldowns, more speed, double jump height and longer dashes; you can run on water and carry one teammate, but standing still on water makes you slowly sink.

Transformation limits:While transformed you can't use Fighting Styles, swords or guns; tails also stop regenerating passively and can only be refilled by dealing damage with Empyrean Kitsune skills. Taking hits, touching magma or being in water all drain the meter.

4. Full Moveset: Mastery, Normal Form vs. Transformed

Skill names use the official English names so you can match them with videos. Tail costs are the visible-meter percentages from English sources; after hotfixes, go by what the game shows.

Key / MasteryNormal FormFull TransformationInstinct & Meter Notes
M1Normal Attack Flaming slashes; hit 4 is a wide mob pull, and hit 5 changes its finisher depending on whether you're on the ground or in the air. Similar to the 3-tail normal form, but with slightly bigger range, hitboxes and damage. A full five-hit string costs about 7.5%; normal attacks themselves can be dodged with Instinct, but the 3-tail burn has its own Instinct-break effect.
ZSweeping Firestorm
1 Mastery
Tap to fire a short red flame beam; holding first forms a ring of fire, then fires an aimable beam, and the beam and explosion deal damage separately. Official Balance Patch 001 cut the untransformed charged version's damage by 30%. Summons three red fireballs and dashes forward; on hit it circles behind the target and explodes, on a miss it scatters around you for an area explosion. Since Balance Patch 001, the untransformed tap version no longer breaks Instinct; the official notes didn't list the same change for the charged or transformed versions. Transformed, it costs about 15%.
XTails of Burning Agony
50 Mastery
Hits repeatedly along a zigzag path and briefly stuns, changing the launch direction depending on whether the enemy is on the ground or in the air. Since Balance Patch 001, landing it plays the full channel animation, and you can't cast another move until it ends. Zigzags forward, grabs the enemy and slams them hard; used in the air, it slams straight down. Costs about 12.5% normally and about 20% transformed; normal X doesn't break Instinct directly, but the transformed X slam does.
CBurstfire Cannon
100 Mastery
Charges a light-red fireball; release it to hit, creating a big explosion and fire on the ground, with slightly higher damage on a direct hit. Balance Patch 001 added 0.3 seconds of end lag to the untransformed version. Tap: a long-range red fireball with damage over time. Hold: lunges forward to grab the target, then plays a point-blank energy cannon animation. Costs about 15% normally; transformed, the tap costs 25% and the charge 75%. Hits break Instinct; you're protected during the charge animation, but it's very expensive and doesn't refill tails.
VTransformation
300 Mastery
At a full 3 tails, you become the full Empyrean Kitsune; the roughly 1-second transformation animation avoids normal damage. Using it again cancels the transformation instantly, restoring access to Fighting Styles, swords and guns. Transforming costs about 30% of the visible tail meter; its edge hitbox can still be dodged with Instinct.
FWild Assault
200 Mastery
Lunges forward and, on hit, follows up with a flurry of claw slashes. Dashes at the target and sweeps with its tails, with a faster animation. Costs about 10% normally and about 15% transformed; the grab/slash breaks Instinct on hit.
Cooldown difference: The English moveset lists Z/X/C/F cooldowns dropping from about 9/12/15/9 seconds to 6.75/9/11.25/6.75 seconds when transformed, roughly a 25% reduction. That's why the transformation is so strong, but also why it burns through tails faster.

5. Skins, Value & Trading Tips

  • Crimson Empyrean: was available in the shop for 2,000 Robux, or included in the 4,999 Robux Fox Spirit Bundle; the English skin page currently marks it as Offsale.
  • Galaxy Empyrean: a Mythical/Chromatic skin that came from the 2025 Winter Fruit Box. The mutation list records 0.8% and the skin page records 1%; since there's no official public odds table, this site keeps both numbers and notes that the sources disagree.
  • Skins don't change skills further: Crimson and Galaxy only change Empyrean Kitsune's colors; what actually changes the abilities is the Empyrean Kitsune mutation itself. The English mutation notes say that eating the physical Galaxy version also grants the Empyrean Kitsune mutation.
  • There's no official value: limited-time items are swayed by rerun rumors, trading demand and collector hype, so don't treat any single video or third-party value list as a guaranteed price.

6. Practical Tips: Leveling, Map Travel & PvP

Leveling: unlock Z/X/C first

Normal attacks and wide-area skills are great for clearing mobs, but the full kit only opens up at 300 Mastery. If you get it at a low level, focus on Mastery first instead of just showing off the transformation.

Tail management: don't whiff every move

Missed skills drain tails, and transformed skills burn a lot. Use normal attacks, X or F to check the distance first, then decide whether to commit to a charged Z or charged C.

PvP: normal form combos better with weapons

Normal form works with Fighting Styles, swords and guns, so it's better for full combos. Charged Z hits hard but aims slowly and has strong knockback, so it's hard to land fully unless you've locked the opponent down first.

Full transformation: best in open areas

Speed, damage reduction and cooldowns are all better, but it's easy to overshoot indoors and you can't use other weapons. It's great for chasing, crossing the sea and carrying a teammate, but not necessarily good in tight spaces.

Transformed charged C: only fire when it'll land

The charged version costs 75% of the visible tail meter, with huge damage and animation protection; whiff it and you instantly lose most of your staying power.

Trading: identify Crimson or Galaxy first

The two skins differ in rarity and how they were obtained. Check value lists and actual trades first, then the final trade window; don't rush into accepting just because someone says "limited time, last chance today."

❓ FAQ

Is Empyrean Kitsune just a Kitsune skin?

No. Empyrean Kitsune is a Mythical Mutation of Kitsune that changes some normal attack and skill mechanics; Crimson and Galaxy are the actual cosmetic skins for Empyrean Kitsune.

Does Empyrean Kitsune carry over Mastery from regular Kitsune?

No. The mutation and the original Kitsune don't share Mastery; Z, X, C, F and V all have to be leveled again on Empyrean Kitsune.

Can you still get Empyrean Kitsune for free?

The free rolls from the 2025 winter event have ended; back then, only Galaxy Empyrean could come from the Winter Fruit Box. For now, the main options are the mutation purchase option for permanent Kitsune owners, or getting special items through trading; actual availability depends on the in-game shop.

How many tails does Empyrean Kitsune need to transform?

You can only use V to transform once the tail meter reaches 3 tails; V needs 300 Mastery, and transforming consumes the visible tail meter.
