Look at your Sea and what you need first, then decide whether to eat it, use it as a stopgap or keep it. The most expensive fruit isn't always the best for beginners.

Top Leveling Picks
Want to level up fast? Start with one of these three.
BuddhaBuddha · Legendary
Physical player value10M
Second / Third SeaLeveling · RaidsDifficulty: Easy
Transforming enlarges the range of your Fighting Style and sword normal attacks and reduces damage taken, making it especially reliable for leveling and farming materials in the Second and Third Sea.
Tip: level mainly with Fighting Style or sword normal attacks
Cheaper, or useful after their rework, these are good for getting to know the game.
IceIce · Uncommon
Physical player value550K
First SeaCrowd control · PvPDifficulty: Easy
Elemental immunity, fruit M1 attacks, crowd control and movement on water all in one, so it's friendly for grinding mobs and practicing PvP in the First Sea.
Tip: good for practicing your mechanics and crowd control
Low price and low Mastery requirements, with decent damage and range. Its moves have strong knockback, so when you pull mobs together, save the knockback moves to finish them off.
Tip: when pulling mobs, save high-knockback moves for last
All SeasLeveling · Mid-game flightDifficulty: Medium
Eagle is the rework of the old Falcon, with normal attacks, stuns, damage and range. F flight needs 150 Mastery, and it still works for leveling, raids and Sea Events.
Tip: the new version can level; F flight needs 150 Mastery
Unawakened, it has heavy knockback and high Mastery requirements, which makes leveling awkward. Full awakening is expensive, so it's mainly an advanced PvP fruit.
Tip: poor for leveling while unawakened; keep it and check its value first

How should beginners pick a fruit?
First Sea or just reached the Second Sea:focus on how reliably a fruit levels and don't rush for the most expensive one. Buying from the Blox Fruit Dealer with in-game money replaces your current power right away. If you roll a pricey fruit like Portal or Dough, check the Value List first, then use the player trade W/F/L calculator to see if a trade is worth it. As of Update 30, the First Sea Blox Fruit Gacha has moved to Middle Town (an Update 30 change).
Pick by Sea
First Sea | Lv. 1–700Light covers flight, elemental immunity and mob clearing. If you can't get it, use Ice, Flame or Smoke as a stopgap. The reworked Eagle can also level, but F flight only unlocks at 150 Mastery.Second Sea | Lv. 700–1500Buddha is great for leveling with Fighting Style or sword normal attacks, and awakening its transformation move first gives a big boost. For Sea Beasts and Sea Events, switch to Magma.Third Sea | Lv. 1500+Buddha keeps handling leveling, raids and materials; Magma leans toward damage at sea. Portal is good for getting around and support, but it's not a go-to leveling pick for fruit-main players.
Don't treat trade rankings as a tier list: player trade value, how rare a fruit is to get and leveling efficiency are three different things. Unawakened Dough needs high Mastery and has heavy knockback, and a full awakening takes a lot more resources. A high price doesn't mean a beginner will level faster by eating it now.
Should a beginner's first fruit be picked for value or for leveling?
Go for leveling reliability first. In the First Sea and early Second Sea, mob-clearing speed, easy travel and moves that land easily usually matter more than trade value. Once you start trading, come back to the Value List to check current values.
Why are Buddha, Light and Magma recommended so often?
Buddha's transformation enlarges the range of Fighting Style and sword normal attacks and reduces damage taken, making it ideal for leveling in the Second and Third Sea. Light has elemental immunity, fruit M1 attacks and fast flight, making it the best fit for the First Sea. Magma has high AoE and lingering damage, lets you walk on water after awakening at least one move, and is often used to farm Sea Beasts.
Should I eat a high-value Mythical fruit right away if I roll one?
Not necessarily. Fruits like Kitsune, Dragon and Dough are worth a lot, but they also demand more level, Mastery and resources. If you're not sure how you want to play yet, check the value or ask around first, then decide whether to eat it, store it or trade it.
Do First Sea players need to chase Kitsune or Dragon?
No rush. Kitsune and Dragon are strong, but they're expensive to get and demand more skill and Mastery. For beginners, getting your leveling route running smoothly is usually more useful than forcing your way to the most expensive fruit.
Is Eagle still the weak old Falcon?
No. Falcon is the old name and the old reputation. Today's Eagle has been reworked with normal attacks, stuns, range and decent damage, and works for regular leveling, raids and Sea Events. Note that F flight needs 150 Mastery; it doesn't unlock as soon as you eat the fruit.
Why not use Light all the way to the Third Sea?
Light still works, but in the Second and Third Sea the level gap needed for elemental immunity to kick in is bigger, and more enemies use Aura (Haki). If you want steady leveling, Buddha is usually less effort, and Magma is the pick for damage at sea.
