Blade (formerly Chop)

Blade (formerly Chop)

Natural 🔪 Swordsman Counter The Update 24 rework added an M1 and all-new skills; it's cheap, easy to get, and a hard counter to sword users.
📝 Overview:
Blade is Chop's official name after its Update 24 rework, and the old Chop skills have been replaced.
It has Blade Reflex, a long-range M1, crowd control and low Mastery requirements, making it great for First Sea beginners. However, the immunity has exceptions for NPC levels and bosses, so you're not immune to sword moves in every situation.

📍 1. How to Get & Role

This is a Common fruit and very easy to get.

  • Shop price: $30,000 Beli / 100 Robux.
  • Obtainment: buy it from the Blox Fruit Dealer, roll the Blox Fruit Gacha (the First Sea gacha moved to Middle Town after Update 30), or pick up a spawned fruit under a tree.
  • Role:
    • Leveling (A): Low Mastery requirements and an M1 that hits multiple targets make it very handy in the First Sea.
    • PvP (A): Immune to sword damage, including swords with Aura; most of its moves can also break Instinct.
    • Limits: Fighting Styles, guns and fruit damage aren't affected. Against regular NPCs, the immunity only kicks in once your level is about 104% of theirs (for low-level mobs, the same level is enough), and it doesn't work against Bosses.
🔪 Blade Reflex exceptions:
Some sword moves don't deal slash damage but can still stun or control you, such as Saishi, Shark Anchor and Rengoku. So it's a “sword damage counter”, not full immunity to crowd control.

💥 2. Skills

Since Update 24, its official name is Blade. Its current skills are listed below; the old skills from early Chop videos (Tackle, Dance, Party, Helicopter) no longer apply.

Key Skill / Mastery Cooldown / Energy Instinct interaction & use
M1 Blade's Edge 0.3 sec / none Fires blades in rapid succession, hitting multiple targets at once and letting you hover briefly in the air; can't break Instinct.
Z Razor Cyclone
Mastery 1
3.75 sec / 15 Spins toward your cursor, slicing repeatedly; doubles as a short-range dash. A direct hit breaks Instinct.
X Blade Dance
Mastery 20
9 sec / 25 Spins your arm blades for an AoE slash; hold to extend it, ending with a launch. A direct hit breaks Instinct, but the outer edge can still be dodged.
C Saw Shredder
Mastery 50
12 sec / 35 Lunges at the target with spinning blades and slashes a purple X; good for opening or extending combos. A direct hit with the first part breaks Instinct.
F Turbine Flight
Mastery 80
4.5 sec / 35 Fly using spinning blades and change direction mid-flight; the lower your HP, the faster you go. This skill deals no damage.
Awakening status: Blade has no Raid awakening; the Update 24 changes were a direct rework, so you don't need to spend Fragments.

🎮 3. Combat Tips

  • First Sea leveling: Use M1 to clear mobs steadily, Z for movement and X for crowd control; Mastery requirements are low.
  • PvP: Z, X and C all break Instinct, but they still have to land directly. Don't mistake sword damage immunity for immunity to all damage.
  • Stat points: The new Blade can now be your main fruit build; you don't have to use it only as a defensive passive like the old Chop.

❓ 4. FAQ

Is Blade immune to all sword moves?

It's immune to sword slash damage, including swords imbued with Aura. However, moves from swords like Saishi, Shark Anchor and Rengoku can still stun you, and Boss attacks aren't covered by the immunity.

Why can NPCs still hit me?

Against regular NPCs, Blade Reflex only kicks in if your level is about 104% of theirs (e.g. Lv.1762 for a Lv.1700 mob). Fighting Styles, guns and fruit attacks were never covered by the immunity.

Does Blade have an Awakening?

There's no Raid awakening. Update 24 was a full rework, so you don't need Fragments or an awakening order.

Is it worth maining as a beginner?

Very useful in the First Sea: M1 clears mobs, the skills have low Mastery requirements, and it counters sword-wielding enemies. Later on, swap it out based on your damage and mobility needs.
