Blox Fruits Fruit Mutations: The Complete Guide

A Mutation isn't just a recolor, and it isn't a Raid awakening either. It changes skills and gameplay and has its own Mastery. This page first helps you figure out whether what you got is a physical mutation fruit, a permanent mutation, or just a cosmetic skin.

3Mutations currently in the game
1,500–2,000 R$Mutation price once you own the permanent base fruit
Mythical / BeastSame for all three so far
Separate MasteryNot shared with the base fruit
Remember this first: What was limited-time is the “event physical mutation fruit”, not the whole mutation system. Players who own the matching permanent base fruit can still buy the mutation from the shop; eating a physical mutation fruit only unlocks the mutation and doesn't give you the base fruit or the permanent base fruit.

How Do the Three Mutations' Core Playstyles Differ?

MutationCore resource / transformationKey strengthsMain trade-offs
WerewolfBuilds the Fire Meter; a full meter lets you enter Blazing form for 60 secondsAbout 30% damage reduction and about 70% more movement speed while transformed, plus 3% lifesteal on all damage; entering Blazing restores 30% max HP, and defeating a player in Blazing form fully heals youCan't use Fighting Styles, swords or guns while transformed; Overheat kicks in when Blazing ends
Empyrean KitsuneTransforms after building up 3 tails; missed skills drain the meterLong-range charged beams, area grabs and excellent mob clearing; M1 range increases at three tailsThe charged transformed C uses up a lot of the tail meter, so missing moves is costly
Fiend YetiTransforms at Mastery 300; once transformed, you can walk on water and use a super dash with a 5s cooldownAbout 34% damage reduction plus about 25% movement speed and cooldown boosts; Z/X can be charged, strong at aerial chasingMore mobility-focused than regular Yeti; some moves have heavy knockback, and leveling untransformed takes more skill

The numbers above are approximate values recorded in the current English entries and may change after balance updates; in-game skill descriptions and actual hit behavior take priority.

Eating, Unlocking and Switching

1Get the mutation

Eat a special physical fruit, or buy the mutation from the shop if you meet the permanent base fruit requirement.

2Unlock the mutation first

Eating a physical mutation fruit for the first time only lets you use that mutation; it doesn't also give you the base fruit.

3Get the matching base fruit ready

Equip the base fruit again, or own the permanent base fruit, to use the Wardrobe's full switching feature.

4Switch in the Wardrobe

Inventory → Wardrobe → Mutations, then pick an unlocked version.

Mastery reminder: Mutations don't share Mastery with the base fruit. Getting regular Kitsune to 600 doesn't mean Empyrean Kitsune has 600 too; Werewolf and Tiger, and Fiend Yeti and Yeti, also have to be leveled separately.

Skill Unlock Requirements Shared by All Three Mutations

Z | 1First damage skill
X | 50Second damage skill
C | 100Main control / chase
F | 200Mobility skill
V | 300Transformation skill

When leveling a new mutation, clear mobs with Z and X first; efficiency jumps noticeably once C unlocks at Mastery 100, and you only get the full kit once F unlocks at 200 and V at 300.

Can You Still Buy Them Now That the Events Are Over?

✓
Yes, you can buy permanent mutations; what ended was the limited-time physical fruit events.

According to the current mutation system, as long as your account already owns the matching permanent base fruit, you can go to “Shop → matching base fruit → Mutations” to view and buy it. A regular physical Tiger, Kitsune or Yeti is not the same as a permanent base fruit.

✅ Routes Still Available Now

  • Permanent base fruit shop: Once you own permanent Tiger/Kitsune/Yeti, buy it separately through the “Mutation” option on that fruit's page.
  • Player trading: Trade for special physical mutation fruits left over from the events.
  • Existing unlocks: Accounts that have already eaten a mutation fruit can switch back to it when they meet the base fruit requirement.

⛔ Event Routes That Have Ended

  • Halloween, Winter and Valentine's event gachas or limited boxes.
  • The Summer 2026 Chromatic Box from the Blox Fruit Gacha during the Update 30 Magnet event: it had a 1% chance to give Runic Fiend, and eating it also unlocked Fiend Yeti.
  • Physical fruit spawns on the map that only appeared during events.
  • The original limited-time bundles such as Hunter, Fox Spirit and Raging Frost.

“No longer obtainable” in the English overview mainly refers to the event physical fruits and limited-time free routes; the same system page also states that permanent base fruit owners can buy mutations from the shop at any time. If your account's region, product status or shop interface differs, go by what the game actually shows.

Which Mutation Should I Pick?

Blox Bulletin #022: The “New Fruit Variants” in Issue #022

Listed as a teaser only for now: The official bulletin on 07/17/2026 showed silhouettes of several unnamed fruit variants, but didn't confirm whether they're Mutations, Skins or a separate system, and gave no names, prices or release dates. So this site isn't adding them to the three official mutations above for now. The later Update 30 (2026-09-05) added 5 Chromatic skins (Lime Blade, Scarlet Ghost, Starlight Gravity, Runic Fiend, Arcsteel Magnet), and when checked on 2026-10-22, the Wiki still listed only 3 mutations.

FAQ

Q: Is a fruit Mutation just a skin?
A: No. A mutation changes skills, passives or gameplay and has its own Mastery; a skin mainly changes the appearance and effect colors.
Q: After eating a physical mutation fruit, can you switch straight back to the original fruit?
A: Eating a physical mutation fruit for the first time only unlocks and equips that mutation. After that, you need to equip the matching base fruit again, or own the permanent version of that base fruit, before you can freely switch between unlocked versions in the Wardrobe in your Inventory.
Q: Do mutations share Mastery with the original fruit?
A: No. Werewolf and Tiger, Empyrean Kitsune and Kitsune, and Fiend Yeti and Yeti all need their Mastery leveled separately.
Q: Can you still get fruit mutations after the events end?
A: Yes, but there are two routes. The “physical mutation fruit” route — event gacha, map spawns, limited-time boxes and so on — has ended, though the leftover special physical fruits can still be traded; players who own the matching permanent base fruit can, under the current mutation system, choose “Mutation” on that fruit's page in the shop and buy it separately.
Q: If you've only eaten a regular physical Tiger, Kitsune or Yeti, can you still buy the mutation in the shop?
A: A regular physical fruit doesn't count as a permanent base fruit. Buying a mutation in the shop requires your account to own the matching permanent base fruit; a regular physical base fruit can only be used to equip the original version and help you switch to mutations you've already unlocked.
Q: Does buying a mutation also give you the permanent base fruit?
A: No. The permanent base fruit is a prerequisite for buying the mutation, and the mutation itself is a separate unlock; for the price and whether it shows up, go by the in-game shop.
Q: Are the new fruit variants in Blox Bulletin #022 new Mutations?
A: That can't be confirmed yet. The developers have only teased several unnamed fruit variants and haven't officially classified them as mutations, skins or another system.
